ALICIA'S STORY
MORE THAN A SHELTER

Snow

| "Family Promise isn't just a shelter. It was a place to rebuild our lives."

Alicia couldn't be there in person when her story was shared with us. She had work. That detail alone says everything about where she is now.

In January 2025, Alicia came to Grays Harbor from Florida with her three daughters. She came trying to end years of chronic homelessness. She didn't know anyone here. She didn't have a support system. She just knew she needed something different for herself and her girls.

Two months into her stay at Family Promise, her father passed away. In one of the hardest moments of her life, in a city far from home, the program showed up for her.

IN ALICIA'S OWN WORDS

"Family Promise isn't just a shelter. It was a place to rebuild our lives.

They were there in our darkest time when nobody else was. My dad passed away about two months into our stay. They really showed up for me and my girls in that dark time.

By the time we graduated, I had saved a good amount of money and got us into an apartment. My goals are bigger now. I never felt like life would be worth living until now."

Alicia completed the Family Promise program just before Christmas 2025. She is now working as a caregiver. She has her own apartment. Her three daughters are with her.
